This Week's Find is a mid-century modern house in DC that was inspired by the west coast.
Constructed in 1965, the 2,000 square-foot split-level house and others nearby were built as part of a California-style modernist enclave in DC's Crestwood neighborhood. The house has been updated over the , but retains its original vernacular.
"The design of this residence is very much within the traditions established by certain California modernist architects during the last half of the 20th century, whose work was synthesized and widely promoted by developer Joseph Eichler," listing agent John Mahshie told UrbanTurf.

The upstairs level of the home has wood-paneled pitched ceilings with parallel beams, and the living room has a trio of near-floor-to-ceiling windows opposite a wood-burning fireplace. Parquet hardwood floors extend into the upstairs kitchen, which has a three-sided breakfast bar peninsula and sliding glass doors out to the backyard. An adjacent dining room has sliding glass doors surrounded by windows that lead out to a covered balcony.
The front door is off a platform deck on the lower level, which could serve as an in-law suite with a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living space with sliding glass doors out to a front flagstone patio. The backyard features additional patio spaces and a tiered, step-up garden with a path, a pond, and ample trees.
The owner's bedroom is double-sized and has a pitched ceiling along with room for a sitting area with a fireplace. In addition to a walk-in closet, the room also has an en-suite bath with multiple styles and shades of blue tiling and a skylight above the jetted tub. Additional details are below.
