The JBG Companies has owned the 16-acre site of the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel at 2660 Woodley Road NW (map) since 2005, and had big plans on the boards for the site.
Now, in light of feedback from the community and planning officials, the development team has elected not only to withdraw its planned-unit development application in order to revise the design of one of the buildings, but to also put the property up for sale.

The original proposal would raze the hotel and deliver an additional five residential buildings to the site, totaling nearly 1,650 units atop over 1,000 parking spaces. Despite the entire property being put up for sale, JBG is still revising the application to alter the height and massing of the building on the North Lawn to make it more compatible with Future Land Use map plans and the nearby architecture.
“To better understand and weigh all available options for Wardman Park, we are going to be engaging in an active marketing process to sell the property, including the Marriott hotel,” JBG said in a statement. “While the Marriott hotel has a long-term operating agreement with JBG, putting the property on the market will provide JBG and the community with a better understanding of all potential options for the future of Wardman Park.”
