Old Town, Alexandria’s latest residential project will start pre-sales this weekend.
The grand opening of EYA’s Old Town Commons, a new townhome community that will bring almost 380 new residential units to the Northern Virginia neighborhood, will have its grand opening this Saturday and sales are expected to start on Sunday.
Old Town Commons is located about three blocks from the Braddock Road Metro on the Blue and Yellow Lines and is not too far from the shops and restaurants of Old Town. The project is being built in five phases that will produce 159 townhouses, 86 condos and 134 affordable apartments. The first phase is expected to be finished by the end of 2012. DCmud reports that Old Town Commons will “replace 194 units of affordable housing.”
In the same way that the homes of EYA’s Chancellor’s Row project are designed to complement DC’s row house architecture, the townhomes of Old Town Commons are built to look like the homes that have been in Old Town for a century.
The homes will be priced starting at $675,000 and most are designed with rooftop terraces, garage parking, and backyards. In keeping with the green building movement, the new homes have been designed to LEED for Homes standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council.
“While we have always been drawn to Old Town because of its historic architecture and walkability, what makes it especially exciting is that Old Town Commons will introduce some of our newest construction techniques that make our homes even more energy efficient, comfortable to live in, and environmentally responsible,” EYA’s Preston Innerst told UrbanTurf.
