After a hiccup earlier this year, plans to redevelop the former WTTG-Fox 5 headquarters site in Friendship Heights are back on track — and a familiar developer is back on the masthead.
Donohoe Development has filed plans with DC to build a six-story, 214-unit project at 5151 Wisconsin Avenue NW (map). Valor Development withdrew its zoning application in late spring to deliver a 177-unit project on the site; prior to that, Donohoe had been sharing a concept for the site with the community.

The development would include a 1,500 square-foot retail or restaurant space at Wisconsin Avenue and Harrison Street. There would also be 86-167 vehicular parking spaces and at least 71 long-term bicycle spaces. Similarly to the zoning application filed and withdrawn by Valor, the current application seeks to extend the MU-4 zoning (moderate-density mixed-use) 35 feet deeper into the split-zoned site. Torti Gallas Urban is the architect.
Fox 5 relocated to downtown Bethesda in July. The Board of Zoning Adjustment will consider the application for this project next year.
