Where DC Residents Look For Beach Homes

Inspired by the warmer weather and the upcoming long weekend, Trulia dug into their data to find out the most popular vacation spots for various city dwellers.
This particular search focused on vacation homes for sale, so renters and casual visitors were kept out of the equation. Trulia looked at home searches conducted in April and May in zip codes where at least 25 percent of the homes are for seasonal use. They were also able to tell where the searches originated to determine the hometowns of the vacationers.
In the DC area, the top zip code for a second vacation home was 21842, which encompasses Ocean City, MD. Ocean City also had the least expensive median asking price on the list at $275,000. Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach were next on the list, both with median prices above $450,000.
Interestingly, the next two most popular spots were a considerable distance away from DC in North Carolina.
