NoVa Needs to Start Building Homes

Apparently, the housing market has come back so strongly in Northern Virginia in recent months that at least one area expert thinks that it is time to start building new homes.
In her blog Local Address, the Washington Post’s Elizabeth Razzi writes that area housing expert Stephen Fuller told a group of Northern Virginia realtors recently that home builders in NoVa need to start building new homes…now.
From Local Address:
“They have very little inventory,” Fuller said, “and in some cases, inventory is so small they’re raising prices, even in Prince William County.” Fuller pointed out that even though there have been job losses in the Washington area, our employment picture is far rosier than elsewhere in the country. And the worst of the recession is past, though unemployment numbers will continue to rise for months, even after we’re in recovery. Meanwhile, a housing shortage could be developing.
If you are rubbing your eyes to make sure that you read that right, don’t worry. We did it, too.
