While the last mile is in sight for DC to fully "reopen", one national delivery service is preparing to increase convenience for those who stay at home.
As reported by Capitol Hill Corner, DoorDash is currently working towards opening a last-mile delivery outpost at the former Fragers Hardware store location at 1323 E Street SE (map). Another DashMart is also under construction in Alexandria.

DashMart would be a mini-convenience/grocery store of sorts, and would also carry items from local restaurants. Customers could order items from DashMart to be delivered within 30 minutes and would either pay a variable delivery fee based on order size or could purchase a monthly subscription for unlimited deliveries without fees for orders of at least $15.
However, it may not all be smooth sailing for the DashMart.
On Tuesday evening, the ANC 6B Planning and Zoning committee supported appealing permits and the certificate of occupancy for the store. ANC 6B Commissioner Corey Holman tweeted that this was a result of violations related to the company not being able to provide required loading and parking at the Fragers site.
