DC is getting a fourth Target location.
Target has signed a lease to bring a small-format location to the Douglas Development project planned at the intersection of Georgia and Eastern Avenues NW (map). The 30,000 square-foot store will have inventory tailored to the neighborhood as well as a service that would allow shoppers to make their purchases online and pick them up from the store.
The chain has deployed similar small-format concepts in College Park and other urban or college areas. Douglas and Target have also announced a location proposed for Ivy City; another is in the works in Cleveland Park.

This is the same site for which Douglas had previously been granted zoning approval to develop Georgia Eastern at 7828 Georgia Ave NW (map), a project that would have delivered 215 apartments above a Harris Teeter. An appeal of that development is still ongoing, although the developer seems to have motioned to withdraw the case earlier this year.
