Online real estate agency Redfin has analyzed which DC area zip codes have offered the biggest discounts for homebuyers over the past two months. The site looked at sales data by zip code and calculated the difference between the sales price and the listing price.
The zip code with the most discounted homes in the area is 20905, made up largely of Spencerville, MD. The overall discount between the final sale and list price was 9.6 percent. The Virginia zip code offering the best discounts is 22066 or Great Falls with an overall discount between list price and sales price of 7.8 percent. The DC zip code of 20032 which includes Bolling Air Force Base and Washington Highlands had the best discounts with a difference of 6.8%. In a surprising result, 20037, which includes Foggy Bottom, was not far behind with a margin of difference of 6 percent.
Here is a look at the rest of the top ten.

From Redfin: “At 3.7%, the overall discount for the greater DC area came in slightly lower than last month’s 4.0%. Unfortunately, there was not much consistency between last month’s top 10 and this month’s top 10, as the discount ratios seem to be in a state of flux.”
