A One-of-a-Kind Home Debuts in Massachusetts Avenue Heights

In 2017, custom luxury homebuilder Petra Development acquired a one-of-a-kind DC residence. Tucked among the undulating hills and grand estates of Massachusetts Avenue Heights, 2610 30th Street NW was a traditional stucco home set on one of the neighborhood’s rare flat lots. Petra jumped at the opportunity to invest in the exceptionally private enclave, and to showcase their extraordinary building skills with a home where every door opens to patios and gardens.
Petra took remarkable care with the property, investing two years in a total renovation that included several additions. The home now measures at over 6,000 square feet and features six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms.
The firm added a gracious guest suite—with a private entrance and separate kitchen—above the two-car garage, and a lower level in-law suite (also with a private kitchen). They also extended the back of the house to create a sun-soaked library space, atop which they built a huge owner’s suite bathroom featuring double vanities, a double shower and a free-standing tub all flooded with natural light.
Petra designed the home with open floorplan interiors that are transitional in style. Original moldings and finishes like Binova Manti Herringbone kitchen cabinets add to a more traditional feel, while dozens of modern features were added. A grand foyer with marble mosaic floors and a custom stair rail open to a living room with a floor-to-ceiling slab fireplace and double exposure windows. The library features custom Italian Kico cabinetry, a wet bar and doors that open to the limestone terrace. And the chef’s kitchen boasts marble counters and an extra large waterfall island.
Other finishes include ten-inch plank white oak hardwood flooring, a Lacanche range, a Miele double refrigerator/freezer, a Raw Urth custom range hood, Waterworks fixtures, Circa Lighting and RH lighting fixtures, multiple zones of in-ceiling speakers and Wi-Fi smart connectivity. Both a pool and a wine cellar are optional features for the home’s buyer.
The home’s grounds are one of its most unique and desirable features. The lead walk, front porch and expansive back patio were laid with hand-selected limestone. And the patio, the professionally landscaped grounds, and the juniper trees that line the property are what the new owner will see from all of the rooms on the backside of the house.
The property at 2610 30th Street NW, which is priced at $5.7M, is for sale by Washington Fine Properties. Architecture and interior design was completed by Akseizer Design Group. Prospective residents can now tour the property by appointment. For more information, contact Washington Fine Properties' Nancy Taylor Bubes and Liz D'Angio at 202-427-7890.
