Cleveland Park Magruder's to Close

In news that will certainly hit Cleveland Park residents hard, NBC Washington is reporting that the neighborhood’s Magruder’s is closing. Apparently, the escalating rent is the main reason behind the establishment shutting its doors.
Magruder’s, a locally-owned grocery store that is a staple in many DC-area zip codes, still has locations in Gaithersburg, Rockville, Kemp Mill, Vienna, Falls Church, Alexandria and Chevy Chase.
The Cleveland Park Magruder’s, located at 3527 Connecticut Avenue NW (see map here), will have its last day of business on Saturday. The grocery’s closing comes about a month after news that the Social Safeway at the top of Georgetown will be closed until March 2010 for renovations.
