This installment of Above Asking highlights three recently-featured listings in the DC suburbs that each sold for six figures over original listing price.


$161,000 Above Asking Near the C&O Canal

Over in Glen Echo, this four-bedroom cottage went under contract six days after being listed and ultimately sold for a price $161,000 above asking. The house has a screened-in front porch with two swing seats and a four-car garage that could serve as workshop space. The lower level has parquet wood flooring throughout and has a rec room, bedroom and full bath, and separate entrance.

Its stacked outdoor spaces include a wraparound path beneath a wraparound porch that is beneath terraces on two levels. There is also a screened-in porch on the main level, accessible through both the living room and the eat-in kitchen, and the skylit uppermost landing doubles as a loft-like space beside an octagonal bedroom. There is also a theater area, wet bar, bedroom, and bonus room on the carpeted lower level.
