A blog post from the company on Thursday announced plans for two 22-story mixed-use office buildings at the Metropolitan Park site in the 1400 block of S. Eads Street (map). The buildings would have ground-floor retail and 1,968 spaces of below-grade parking, along with 200 spaces of bike storage, according to Washington Business Journal. The project would also extend the existing park and add public plazas. ZGF Architects is the designer.
This site was previously approved for a 22-story mixed-use development with 577 apartments atop 9,665 square feet of retail before JBG Smith absorbed Vornado's Virginia portfolio. Amazon is expected to purchase the site from JBG Smith later this year.
