Last summer, Capital One announced its intention to create Capital One cafés in DC, a concept that combines coffee shops and co-working with financial services. Now, we have a sense of what the Georgetown café location will look like.
Capital One is applying for a zoning special exception to turn the property at 3146-3150 M Street NW (map) into a 106-seat shop that sells prepared foods and offers financial services. The public will also be able to reserve meeting rooms in the shop free of charge. Capital One purchased 3150 M Street NW, formerly home to Nathans for $50.2 million last year.
No actual banking will be done on the site, although there will be ATMs; financial service staff will be available to patrons seeking assistance.

Seating and meeting areas will be spread across three levels; a circular stair at the center of the building will feature an art installation. CallisonRTKL is the interior designer.
Capital One has plans for a second cafe location in Chinatown, where the banking giant has already purchased the rights to the former Verizon Center. There are dozens of Capital One cafés already open; the closest is in Richmond. Additional renderings are below.
