Seven years ago, K. Leszczak completed her first home renovation in Anacostia. Now, she is working on a more ambitious mixed-residential project nearby.
The Shannon Collective will deliver three different types of housing to three lots on the 2300 block of Shannon Place SE (map), including what may be the neighborhood's first co-living units.

A pair of stacked co-living units ("Club Shannon") will deliver at 2302 Shannon Place: one will be a four-bedroom, 4.5-bath unit, where each bedroom has an en-suite and the kitchen, living area, and balcony are shared. The second will be a loft-style 2,377 square-foot six-bedroom, 5.5-bath with the same common areas and two shared full bathrooms. Both will have in-unit laundry. Each of the bedrooms will be furnished and will have flexible lease options, as well as a monthly rate that includes Wi-Fi, utilities, and cleaning services.
Two sets of for-sale stacked flats ("The Flats") will deliver at 2304 and 2306 Shannon Place and will range from around 980 to 1,360 square feet. Three of the units will be two-bedrooms with 2.5 baths and the fourth adds a mezzanine-level bedroom; each also has a rear or roof deck. Both the co-living units and the flats will share a front porch.
Originally constructed in 1917, the end-unit rowhouse at 2308 Shannon was restored and will deliver 2,136 square feet of living space, with three bedrooms, 3.5 baths, a front porch and a rear deck. The development will also include five surface parking spaces for rent. bld.us is the architect.
The development is expected to be complete in spring or summer of 2021.
