In this week’s departure from all things DC real estate-related, we head overseas to the Swiss city of Ticino. There, according to The Wall Street Journal, famed architect Daniel Libeskind has begun the ambitious project of building 30 homes in 30 different places around the world. The only rule that he must follow is that no two homes can be in the same city. Libeskind, who is perhaps best known for coming up with the design for the World Trade Center reconstruction, is starting in Europe with plans to move to the U.S. after that.

A bit about the first home in the project from The Wall Street Journal:
“The hillside home, overlooking Lake Maggiore, will feature a zinc façade and the angular protrusions Mr. Libeskind is known for. The 5,400-square-foot house will have three bedrooms, three baths and a guest suite. The architect, working with a German manufacturer, is offering the Ticino villa for about seven million Swiss francs ($6.8 million).”
For architecture fans, it will be interesting to see the finished product for this first home, as Libeskind has rarely tried his hand at designing single-family homes.
