16-Unit Development Proposed Near Northeast DC-Maryland Border

A new residential project may be headed to the development pipeline along and around the Northeast DC-Maryland boundary.
A developer has filed a zoning application to construct a 16-unit building on the 9,874 square-foot vacant lot at 5900 Foote Street NE (map).

The proposed walk-up building would be three stories plus a cellar level and would include four surface parking spaces and six bike storage spaces. Each unit would have two bedrooms and one bathroom.
The site is zoned RA-1, permitting development of low-rise apartment buildings up to 40 feet tall in areas with detached and attached houses. The application seeks a special exception to the loading requirements.
The developer is an LLC and Axis Architects is the designer.
