This Week's Find: The Nine-Bedroom Dupont Circle Foreclosure
2126 R Street NW
Dupont Circle is not the first DC neighborhood that comes to mind when you think of foreclosures, but as This Week’s Find proves, bank-owned properties can be found anywhere in the city.
This four-level, nine-bedroom home sits near the corner of 21st and R Streets NW just north and west of Dupont Circle itself (some may call this area Kalorama, some may say Dupont Circle). In addition to the home being a foreclosure, it also in need of a lot of work, ranging from structural repairs to updates of the kitchen and bathrooms to the installation of central A/C. The listing agent told UrbanTurf that the work will likely total a minimum of around $200,000.
That said, the property has its own driveway, each of the levels is individually metered and its location is about as prime for residential real estate as you can get in DC.
Despite its status as a foreclosure and the work it needs, five showings were scheduled within hours of the home being listed and one offer was already submitted by an investor. (It is zoned for residential use, but could house 4-5 separate units.) The listing agent said that the bank will want to market the home for at least 10 days, so if you are in an investing state of mind, there is still time to make an offer.
