$20 Million Arlington Mansion Hits Auction Block Again
Looking up at the ridge where 201 Chain Bridge Road sits.
Perhaps third time’s the charm for the auction of one of the priciest homes in the DC region.
201 Chain Bridge Road (map), a 20,000-square foot house in Arlington, is scheduled to be auctioned off at the end of January. The Mediteranean-style home, which overlooks the Potomac River and has views of DC’s skyline, was recognized as the third most expensive home in the May 2012 issue of Washingtonian magazine, months before the owner foreclosed on it. Last year, the home was assessed at $20.3 million.
If history is any indication, the auction moving forward is not a sure thing. The home has been on the auction block twice before, once in 2012 and then again in 2013, but both auctions were cancelled when owner Rodney B. Hunt, the founder of government contracting firm RS Information Systems, convinced the bank that he could make the monthly payments.
Built in 2003, the home boasts MTV Crib-worthy features like multiple bowling lanes, a 15-car underground garage, a movie theater and indoor and outdoor spa amenities like a sauna, steam room and pool.
We’ll continue following the property to see what happens next.
