Georgetown Home Sells For $16.1 Million, Highest Sale in DC Since 2010
The Williams-Addison House
The renovated and expanded version of the Williams-Addison House in Georgetown has sold for $16.1 million, the highest priced sale in DC since 2010, UrbanTurf has learned. The home was listed for $16.8 million in December 2013 by STAGES Premier, and went under contract in February.
The property at 1645 31st Street NW (map) was significantly renovated and expanded over the past 18 months by Capital City Real Estate, architect Dale Overmyer and interior designer Kelley Proxmire. The 10,000 square-foot, six-bedroom home sits on a 31,982 square-foot lot, one of the largest private lots in Georgetown.
The home has an expansive main floor and a lower level with a media room, wine cellar and a catering kitchen. The master suite includes a private study and a fireplace.
For those that have been closely following the residential real estate beat in the city for the past several years, this is the home previously owned by former Washington Post executive Marc Teren. It was the subject of controversy in the neighborhood based initially on the fact that Teren wanted to build another house on the property, and then because it was an eyesore of start and stop renovations for several years.
The most expensive listing for sale in the city remains the adjacent mansions at 2320-2330 S Street NW, known for housing the Textile Museum. The current asking price is $22 million.
