Tutt, Taylor, Rankin Claims Highest Priced Residential Sale for 2009
Georgetown-based brokerage Tutt, Taylor, Rankin Sotheby’s International Realty has announced that it has sold 1714 Massachusetts Avenue NW (map) for $12 million, making it the highest priced residential sale in DC proper this year, and the highest sale in the District since the beginning of 2007. The sale closed at the end of November.
1714 Massachusetts Avenue NW
The six-bedroom, 5.5-bath home sits just off Dupont Circle on a block that is lined with embassies, cultural institutions, foundations, associations and private residences. Originally built in 1890, the 14,000 square-foot home is designed for an owner that loves to entertain. On the first floor, there are expansive rooms meant for large parties as well as a catering kitchen, and the property has a custom wine cellar in the basement and parking for up to 10 cars (not to mention 10 fireplaces). The family living quarters are located on the second through fourth floors which include a family kitchen, family living room and all the bedrooms.
Having served as an embassy chancery and law offices, the property was converted back to a single-family residence in 2002.
