On March 14th, the Zoning Commission will consider whether or not to set down the application for the review of a planned unit development (PUD) for the new 19,000-seat stadium in Buzzard Point. A set down meeting is essentially where the Zoning Commission decides whether or not a zoning case is ripe for review. If the Commission approves the set down, the case will be opened up for public comment and a date will be set when the Commission will hold a hearing to consider the PUD.
The stadium, designed by the firm Populous, will become the new home of DC United. Located on a nine-acre plot bounded by R Street and Potomac Avenue SW to the north, T Street SW to the south, and 2nd Street SW to the west (map), the planned completion date for the new venue is 2018.
