Mixed-Use Development With 8 Residences Planned For Shaw's 7th Street
Rendering for 1612-1616 7th Street NW
A new mixed-use development is on the boards for Shaw just up the block from Dacha Beer Garden.
Plans filed on Thursday with the Board of Zoning Adjustment show an 8-unit development in the works for 1612-1616 7th Street NW (map). There will be just over 10,000 square feet of retail space on the cellar and first two floors of the building. The residential units will be on the upper levels, with two, two-level duplexes on the third floor. The project is designed by PGN Architects.

Based on discussions with the Historic Preservation Office, the development team will retain portions of the historic buildings, including the facade, while adding a new story and penthouse level to the building.

The developers are looking for variances related to lot occupancy and rear yard requirements, as well as an exception from the parking requirements for the site.
