Developers, Popularise Ask Pentagon City Neighbors What Retail They Want
The companies behind a Pentagon City development project opening in 2015 are polling residents to find out what kind of retail they want in the new development.
The 411-unit Acadia at 1201 S. Fern St. (map), from Kettler and Clarion Partners, has 16,350 square feet of retail. The developers are partnering with crowdsourcing platform Popularise to find out what local residents want in the space, according to Popularise’s Adam Tetenbaum.
The four options floated so far all fit into the category of fast-casual dining: a Roti, a sushi bar, a coffee shop and a bakery. Popularise is the predecessor to Fundrise, the crowd-sourced real estate investment company. The development team plans to advertise the effort with a large sign outside of the unfinished building reading “What retail do you want here?”
The Acadia is one of four buildings in Kettler’s Metropolitan Park complex near the Pentagon City Metro. Vornado is building an adjacent 700-unit project that will be anchored by a Whole Foods.
