From $20 Million to $22 Million: A Price Increase For DC's Most Expensive Home
3030 Chain Bridge Road NW
The price of DC’s most expensive home for sale just got a little higher.
Originally listed for $20 million late last year, the price tag for an eight-bedroom, 11.5-bath mansion at 3030 Chain Bridge Road NW (map) rose another $2 million this week.

“The construction of this spectacular home had been ongoing and additional exterior, interior and landscaping features have been added,” listing agent Marc Fleisher of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty told UrbanTurf. “Combined with the special value we feel the home provides, the decision to reflect these added features resulted in the builder’s decision to increase the price to $22 million.”

Banks Development is building the home that will be located on the site of the estate that belonged to DC luminary Peggy Cooper Cafritz and burned down in a terrible fire in 2009. Even after the fire destroyed the home, things remained messy as lawsuits were filed against the city claiming that there wasn’t an adequate supply of water to fight the blaze. Designed by Jones/Boer Architects, the home is sited on a 35,000 square-foot lot made for large-scale entertaining.
