Fairfax's Mosaic District Gets Green Light
Rendering of Mosaic District
The residential component of the mixed-use project, Mosaic District, has gotten the go-ahead.
On Tuesday, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved the rezoning of part of Mosaic District to allow for the construction of 112 new luxury townhomes, the EYA blog reported yesterday. The 31-acre Mosaic District will be located on the former site of the Merrifield Multiplex Cinema in Merrifield (map).
The townhomes will be four-level properties, with designs similar to the other projects that EYA has built in the region. Sales are expected to start in early 2012, and the first phase of homes could be ready for occupancy as early as late next summer. Prices are projected to start in the upper $500s.
The retail component of Mosaic District will not open until October of next year, but it will include a number of places that DC-area residents are already familiar with, including Matchbox, Taylor Gourmet, and a restaurant from Black’s Restaurant Group.
UrbanTurf will provide more details on the project as they become available.
