Best New Listings: The Two-Bedroom Edition
In this week’s special edition of Best New Listings, UrbanTurf looks at three new two-bedroom options in the DC area.
Chopped Up in a Columbia Heights Victorian
Many of the DC’s two-bedroom options can be found in rowhouses and Victorians that have been split up into condos. This Columbia Heights listing is one such option. One perk of these homes is that the condo fees tend to be on the lower end of the spectrum: for this unit, monthly fees are at just above $200 a month. The 1,050-square-foot unit has a bay window and an open floor plan, with a renovated kitchen opening up to the dining area and living room.

- Bathrooms: Two
- Square Footage: 1,050
- HOA Fees: $203

Logan Circle Co-op in a Historic Building
This co-op is in The Hawarden, a mid-sized Logan Circle building that is on the National Register of Historic Places along with its neighbor, The Gladstone. The building went up in 1901 and still has some period details, including an ornate fireplace and a clawfoot bathtub in this 1,350 square-foot listing. The living room sits at the front of the unit, while the kitchen and dining area are on the opposite end of the layout, connected by a long hallway. As a co-op, the monthly fees are on the high side, but include property taxes.
- Full listing: 1419 R Street NW, #33 (map)
- Price: $625,000
- Bedrooms: Two
- Bathrooms: One
- Square Footage: 1,350
- HOA Fees: $600

Detached in Takoma Park
Finally, Takoma Park has a few two-bedroom homes on the big, tree-filled lots that the area is known for. This home was built in 1920; the facade looks classically suburban while the interior is quite modern, with a spiral staircase sitting in the center of an open floor plan. The upstairs bedrooms are carpeted and cozy, though one wonders how to move a bed or dresser up the spiral stairs. Of course, perhaps the biggest perk of this option is the massive yard, bordered by mature trees.
- Full listing: 6709 Poplar Avenue, Takoma Park, MD (map)
- Price: $459,000
- Bedrooms: Two
- Bathrooms: 1.5
- Year Built: 1920
- Listing Agent: Daniel Metcalf, Long & Foster Real Estate
