A Different Kind of Pop-Up
A rendering of the Heijmans One.
A different type of pop-up than the one front and center in DC is taking shape in the Netherlands.
Dutch construction company Heijmans has created a pre-fabricated home — the Heijmans One — aimed at offering a lower rent option for young professionals in and around Amsterdam. Oh, and it can be installed in 24 hours.
The homes are meant for one occupant, and have a kitchen, bathroom, living room, a separate bedroom and a front door with an outside patio. The one thing that the homes need: a vacant plot of land to sit on.
Inside the Heijmans One.
Currently, a 28 year-old Amsterdam resident is giving the home a three-month test drive. Based on her experience, “the Heijman’s team will further develop the concept for the market.”
