Will Storefront Be the Savior for Pop-Ups?
An Ebay pop-up shop.
A new start-up has launched that could serve as an Airbnb of sorts for pop-up shops looking for temporary retail space.
Storefront is a San Francisco-based company that is essentially a database of retail spaces that can serve as temporary options for retailers. Clients give Storefront the criteria of what they want in a space and then the company comes back with options as well as metrics for each space, including data on foot traffic, space specifications and the demographic information around the area.
Right now, Storefront operates in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York (places where pop-up shops are popular), but if and when pop-ups become more of a regular occurrence in DC, the city’s online and smaller retailers might find it useful.
