What $1,700 Rents You in the DC Area
This week in What X Rents You, UrbanTurf looked in the $1,700 a month range and found a variety of choices for prospective renters in the region with this monthly budget.
A Basement Studio in a Georgetown Townhouse
When an apartment advertisement explicitly states the number of windows (two), a prospective renter knows that they might not be getting much light. Nonetheless, this English basement studio is well located in Georgetown, just a few blocks from M Street and Wisconsin Avenue and not far from the Georgetown University (a graduate student would be ideal, the landlords say), and at 800 square feet is fairly spacious. There’s also a workable kitchen and all utilities, including cable and internet, are included in the monthly rent.

Luxury One-Bedroom on Rockville Pike
A one-bedroom is available in The Gallery at White Flint, a luxury apartment building in North Bethesda close to the Metro. The building has the amenities that one would expect from a high-end rental, like a pool, a gym, a fancy lobby and a business center. Though a renter could walk down Rockville Pike to visit the Barnes and Noble a couple of blocks away, the lobby also has a cafe (and a dry cleaner). The unit is available starting September 1st and comes furnished.

Petworth Two Bedroom Whose Price Could Attract Attention
It’s not the swankiest unit, but a two-bedroom apartment in the city at this price will likely attract some interest. This one is on the northern side of Petworth, and the washer/dryer and private parking space add real value. The photos are a bit blurry, but the unit looks pretty bare-bones, although the kitchen is nicely remodeled and it looks clean and spacious. The rental is available immediately.
