This Week's Find: The Old Farmhouse in Mount Pleasant
2021 Klingle Road NW
Mount Pleasant is a neighborhood known for blocks that are lined with row houses, but This Week’s Find is an 1870s Queen Anne Victorian that strays from that typical property type. The 1,800 square-foot four-bedroom home, known as the old farmhouse, sits elevated on Rosemont Triangle in the northwest corner of the neighborhood. The home was renovated in 2006 by its architect owner and the floorplan was opened up to let more light into the property. In addition to a wraparound porch, the home has a large living room with a gas fireplace, a separate dining room, and a good-sized master bedroom with a balcony. The lot itself is also about five times bigger than other lots around the neighborhood.
Living Room
Listed late last year for about $850,000, the current $404 per square foot makes this an attractive option in a neighborhood that has become one of the first places that young couples in the city start their home search. One final cool thing about the house: the listing agents told UrbanTurf that it was originally owned by the first zookeeper for the National Zoo. More details and photos below.
