This Week's Find: Notably Elegant in Cleveland Park
3600 Ordway Street NW
UrbanTurf sees renovated Victorians come onto the market weekly, and the granite counters and open floor plans start to blur together after awhile. However, with This Week’s Find, we were struck by the close attention to detail apparent in the renovations of the 5,350 square-foot listing.
Living Room
The Cleveland Park four-bedroom home is quite a bit larger than the average DC Victorian, and the price of almost $4 million reflects that (and the neighborhood where it is located). Renovated ten years ago, several rooms are soothingly monochromatic: a bedroom in shades of white, a library with a dark brown color scheme, and a kitchen, which has bold tiling and a tin ceiling against white cabinetry that opens up to a family room surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows.
Living area and kitchen
The second floor is essentially an extended master suite, with a bedroom, master bath, sitting room, library and laundry room. That area around the bedroom has a decidedly feminine feel, with a large vanity and a walk-in closet (currently filled with an extensive shoe collection). In contrast is the library, which feels masculine and vaguely English, with dark wood, deep reds, and a Murphy bed hidden away in one of the walls. The remaining three bedrooms are on the top level, and in addition to its interior amenities, the home has a large front porch, a good-sized backyard and a two-car garage.
