The Plan to Help Homebuyers That Lose Their Jobs: A Few Clarifications
Earlier this week, we announced that Long & Foster is going to begin offering the Rainy Day Foundation’s new Job Loss Protection program which will cover buyers who purchase a Long & Foster listing in the event of an involuntary job loss within the first two years of their loan. Below are a few more details about the program.
- The program is offered to sellers who want to include it as an attractive advantage for their property. That said, it is not an insurance policy that buyers can take advantage of themselves. It is a package deal with the listing.
- The program price is $550, and it is paid by the seller. It does not cost the buyer anything.
- Long & Foster is the first DC-area brokerage to take advantage of the program. In its early years, the program was primarily used by mortgage lenders and home builders.
