Former Chapel Turned Home Hits the Market in Georgetown
A historic chapel turned home in Georgetown hit the market on Monday for $3.895 million.
The five-bedroom, 4.5-bath house was once the Market Street Chapel, built in 1855 to serve Georgetown residents living west of Wisconsin Avenue, according to the listing agent, Theresa Burt. It was turned into a residence in the 1930s by Carl and Elsa Ernst.
In 2012, the current owners did a complete renovation on the home, which had fallen into disrepair. The home now has a double-height living room, a separate in-law suite, an updated kitchen, rooms with exposed beams and a jaw-dropping master bathroom. There is also a side yard, a rarity for Georgetown, and a spacious back patio that backs onto Volta Park.
