Jair Lynch to Bring 240 Apartments to H Street Corridor
Looking down H Street NE, by NCinDC
Jair Lynch, a DC developer who has spent the majority of his career focusing on U Street residential development, will be building 240 new apartments along a currently desolate stretch of H Street Corridor, The Washington Post reported on on Sunday.
Housing Complex first reported in late September that Jair Lynch bought the properties at 601-645 H Street NE (map) for $51.5 million. Currently, two five-story brick buildings sandwich a one-story former grocery store along this stretch.
From the Post,
Lynch plans to tear down the one-story center building and replace it with a mixed-use apartment and retail project that he said would enliven the area. He said he does not need zoning adjustments and would like to begin construction next year.
Lynch’s project joins several new developments on the corridor, including 360 (degrees) H Street, a 215-unit apartment building at 3rd and H NE that broke ground in July.
H Street is not the only place the Jair Lynch has development projects in the works. UrbanTurf reported in July on his plan to build a 95-unit apartment building at 15th and V NW.
The fact that these are being referred to as apartments indicates that this will be a rental, but whether or not these will be for-sale units or rentals probably won’t be determined for some time.
