Friday Eye Candy: The Brandywine House in Forest Hills
For your Friday afternoon viewing pleasure, we’re taking you to Forest Hills to view one of local architect Robert M. Gurney’s homes.
The contemporary Brandywine House is done in Gurney’s signature style, with a boxy, large-windowed exterior, a mix of landscaping and hardscaping, plenty of outdoor living spaces, and ultramodern interior finishes. Inside, a dramatic double-height living room puts a two-sided fireplace at the focal point of the room, with two-story bookcases lining the wall behind it. Gurney is also the architect of a Spring Valley home that hit the market for about $5 million in December.
The home at 2928 Brandywine Street NW (map) is organized, the architect says, around its many outdoor spaces, including a swimming pool, a screened-in porch, a rooftop deck and a stone path featuring a bridge.
