Details, Renderings Revealed For 117-Unit Kalorama Road Apartments
Rendering of new Kalorama Road project.
Two weeks ago, we reported on a new 125-unit apartment building on the boards for Kalorama Road. On Thursday night, UrbanTurf and the public received further details about the development that will be constructed in the parking lot adjacent to the Dorchester House at 2480 16th Street NW (map).
First off, the project will house 117 units, not 125. It will rise four stories, and there will be two levels of underground parking for a total of 175 spaces, some of which will replace the 115 spaces that are being built over. The project is, in essence, a smaller version of an extension of the existing Dorchester House that was proposed several years ago.
At Thursday night’s meeting, a number of Dorchester House residents spoke up about losing their parking spaces as of October 1, and the protests will only get louder as construction starts on this development and work continues on others in the vicinity.
The project could get started by early November and, if all goes according to plan, be complete within 20 months.
