D.C.'s Most Expensive Airbnb Listing? A Massive Former Rectory
D.C.‘s most expensive Airbnb listing has a long history. Once a boarding house, then a rectory for St. Augustine’s Church, the mansion at 1717 15th Street NW (map) can be yours for $1,200 a night.
The property is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a contributing structure to the Fourteenth Street Historic District. It last sold in 1998 for a mere $420,000, or about $613,330 in today’s dollars. Though it’s been listed a couple of times since then, it hasn’t sold. A downstairs apartment is occupied with tenants.
The home has large common areas outfitted with traditional furniture, and the kitchen has been renovated with high-end industrial appliances. But the real star of the show is the roof deck with views stretching out across D.C., a pergola for shade, plenty of lounge chairs and enough room for a party. (The listing says the deck is off-limits at night.)
The eight-bedroom house can sleep 16 guests in its 13 beds, and there is a minimum three-night stay. Based on the reviews, the home has been used to house wedding guests, members of a corporate retreat and a family reunion.
