Could Google Make P.G. County More Attractive for Home Buyers?
Prince George’s County announced today that it will apply to be a test community for the high-speed broadband network that Google is rolling out in select communities in the U.S., according to the Washington Business Journal. The arrival of the pilot program could make the county, one of the area’s hardest hit by the housing crisis, more attractive for home buyers.
Google will test the new networks that it claims “will deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today” in a number of communities across the country.
The ubiqutious search engine giant has set a deadline for proposals for the pilot program of March 26th, but reports are that they have already received an extremely high number of applications, including one from Montgormery County.
As internet connectivity and reliability is becoming of increased importance for seemingly everyone these days, the arrival of this pilot program may help push the county to the top of the list for people actively looking for a home just outside the District border.
