Crystal House Expansion
National Landing
Nonprofit Washington Housing Conservancy (co-founded by JBG Smith) acquired the 828-unit Crystal House apartments in 2020 to preserve the existing affordable housing on the site. In 2021, Amazon acquired the development rights for the site and donated them to the county. True Ground Housing Partners is now moving ahead with the first phase of the development. A new 432-unit affordable housing building dubbed "The Sweeney" (formerly Crystal House 3) broke ground last September. On the for-sale side, EYA received approval for 42 back-to-back townhomes, and that component is expected to break ground this year.
