What $1,800 Rents You in the DC Area
This week in What X Rents You, UrbanTurf looked in the $1,800 a month range for the DC area to see what that price point gets you. We tried to feature a variety of properties (that offered good photos), but Craigslist was pretty lacking in decent options other than one-bedrooms today, perhaps an indication of our area’s rising rents.
Space and New Fixtures in Alexandria
This Old Town apartment is the most spacious option on our list today. At 900 square feet, the one-bedroom unit comes with a big kitchen, a comfy living room and a bedroom with lots of floorspace. There are shiny floors, granite counters and a nice looking bathroom, and the listing claims that it’s well located, a few blocks from the King Street Metro and the shops in Del Ray (although no exact address is provided). The unit is available starting July 1st.

Summer Sublet in Logan Circle
For those willing to share their common spaces with a roommate, a master suite is available in a Logan Circle condo for the summer. The subletter would have the larger bedroom and a private bathroom in what looks to be a two-bedroom unit. The room is mostly furnished and has two closets, and comes with an underground parking space (invaluable for those with a car in notoriously packed Logan Circle). With the prime location and temporary lease, this seems like a good option for a new DC resident still getting their sense of the city. The sublet is available starting May 15th, and the roommate would prefer a young professional or grad student.

A Little Higher Rent Than Normal in Bloomingdale
The monthly rate is a little steep for this Bloomingdale one bedroom that is renting for what something in a neighborhood several blocks to the west might fetch. The unit appears to be recently renovated and is around the corner from Big Bear Cafe, Boundary Stone and Yoga District. It comes with large closets, a washer/dryer and a large kitchen. If our summer is as unusually warm as our winter was, the lack of central AC may make things tough, though.

- Rent: $1,800 per month
