A development along the Anacostia River in the Capitol Riverfront totaling 1.1 million square feet of residential, commercial and retail space designed to achieve LEED Certification. Developers MRP Realty and Florida Rock Properties plan 600 total residential units, 325,000 square feet of office space, 50,000 square feet of retail and 325 hotel rooms. RiverFront’s waterfront esplanade and three major public spaces aim to attract baseball season crowds from the adjacent National's Park and serve the varied shopping and service needs of residents, office workers, and visitors from around the region. Construction for phase one of the four-phase project began in late 2014. Phase one includes a 305-unit residential building with 19,000 square feet of retail space, a plaza, boardwalk, 40,000 square feet of public space and bike/pedestrian trails.
