Dila Development has filed renderings with DC for its 90-unit condominium project that will transform a limestone mansion and its neighboring buildings at the corner of 16th and Park Road NW into a multi-phase residential development. The first phase of the development, designed by 2Plys, centers on the historic mansion at 3224 16th Street NW — a limestone structure that once formed part of Mary Foote Henderson's early-20th century campaign to transform 16th Street into a corridor of diplomatic residences. That building will be converted into 21 condo units. The second phase will bring a five-level addition atop the existing two-story school building at 3220 16th Street, while the third phase — proceeding concurrently with phase two — will add a multi-story addition above and behind the rear wing of the adjacent townhouse at 1604 Park Road NW. Combined, the second and third phases will bring the mansion parcel's total to 64 units, with another 23 units rising on the Park Road parcel.
