The nonprofit So Others Might Eat (SOME) filed plans with DC's Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) in September 2023 for variance and special exception relief in order to renovate and modernize Shalom House, a 93-unit multifamily residential building that SOME owns. The three-story building currently houses 93 affordable units, but is in need of significant upgrades and renovations given its age. All of the apartments will be for DC residents with median family incomes (MFI) at or below 60%.
