Kay Bailey Hutchison Sells Her Southwest Digs

UrbanTurf has learned that retiring Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison’s home at Southwest DC’s Harbour Square has gone under contract. Sen. Hutchison bought the efficiency for $135,000 in 2010. It went on the market about a month ago for $139,900.
Elected in 1993, Sen. Hutchison was the first woman to represent Texas in the senate. In January 2011, Hutchison announced that she would not be seeking re-election.
Harbour Square is a co-op building with a variety of amenities, including round-the-clock security, on-site management and maintenance, a library, a pool, and a fitness center. In addition to Sen. Hutchison, it has also been home to Vice President Hubert Humphrey, Supreme Court Justices Lewis Powell and David Souter, Senators Strom Thurmond and Paul Simon, and other assorted members of Congress.
