A New iPhone Application For Homebuyers
The reasons to buy an iPhone just keep coming.
This morning, home valuation and listing website Zillow.com announced the launch of the Zillow iPhone application. The new application uses GPS technology to show real estate information for homes in a specific area. This means that prospective home buyers strolling around a neighborhood do not have to wait until they get back to a computer to find out relevant information about a property they are interested in.
Zillow’s iPhone Application
The application not only gives details for properties that are on the market, but also those that are not, so that the prospective buyer can do his/her own comparisons. And what would a Zillow product be without Zestimates; the site’s popular home valuation estimate function is also available with the new application.
The Zillow application can also be used to search for residential properties by address, neighborhood, zip code or city, even if they are not nearby. The data can be viewed on both a map and in a list format, and users of the iPod Touch can also use this search function.
If you have an iPhone, and want to download the application (for free), visit Apple’s Application Store here.

Yet one more reason to plunk down $300 for this thing.
I have used the Trulia app that is already out. I wonder how this compares.
I just downloaded it and it located my neighborhood with GPS. Good start. Now I looked for two listings in my building, one which is two weeks old, the other three months. Nada. It pulled up a listing that has been in contract status for over a month, hence is not an active listing in the local MLS. Not a good start.
So I start looking for other listings in the neighborhood. One or two, but they’re dated, and certainly not all that are there. I’m not sure what this thing is useful for. If a home buyer relies on this Zillow app, she or he will miss a lot of properties and run into some dead ends.
Real live Realtors can breathe a short sigh of relief. The killer app ain’t this one.
