Mill Creek Residential Trust, LLC & Berkshire Income Realty, Inc. are developing a large, 3-building apartment complex at the northern edge of NoMa. Berkshire is contributing 90% equity and Mill Creek 10% with construction financing provided by PNC Bank. The project occupies a full city block and broke ground in March 2011. The first building (130 units) is designed to provide the appearance of three separate loft style buildings; a warehouse look, a contemporary loft look, and an art deco look. The second building (218 units) is designed as a contemporary building with a significant amount of glass and smooth brick. The third building (255 units) will provide a sense of two smaller buildings by pairing contemporary architecture with a more traditional design. This building also includes 1,250 square feet of retail space.
