Last Friday, a Colorado woman was chosen as the winner in the much-publicized lottery of an Edgewater, Maryland mansion. Current owner Tom Walters put his 6,000-square-foot dream home up for raffle last summer after it had sat on the market for months without garnering much interest. Walters hoped to sell 31,500 tickets at $50 apiece, grossing just over $1.5 million. While the raffle attracted international media attention, he was only able to sell about 24,000 tickets. Karen McHale, of Idaho Springs, Colorado, purchased two of those tickets and received the surprising call on Friday letting her know she'd won.
