The Cat in the Hat: U Street Circa 2000
The landscape of the U Street Corridor has changed significantly in the past decade. To better understand that change, UrbanTurf spoke with the land development manager for Harrison Square, an early residential project built between 2000 and 2002. This article is a recollection of the rampant drug activity and associated violence that used to plague the area, all seemingly coordinated by an interesting character nicknamed The Cat In The Hat.
