A new hotel has been proposed at DC’s Bridge District, the mixed-use development along Howard Road SE, and it would be the first large-scale hotel east of the Anacostia River if it comes to fruition.
Redbrick LMD, the developer behind the broader Bridge District project, has filed an application with the DC Zoning Commission seeking design review approval for a roughly 160-room hotel immediately adjacent to the Anacostia Metro station.
The hotel, designed by DLR Group, would rise seven stories with a bar/lounge and meeting room along with a rooftop outfitted with green roof areas and solar panels. The façade features dark brick masonry, green-toned rainscreen cladding panels meant to evoke the adjacent parkland and Anacostia riverfront. A hotel operator or brand flag has not been publicly announced.
Redbrick is seeking full relief from the minimum parking requirement, leaning on the site's direct adjacency to the Anacostia Metro station as justification.
The hotel would slot in as the next chapter of the Bridge District, which already includes roughly 758 apartments and 44,000 square feet of retail completed in Phase 1, with another 272 units under construction on Parcel 5.
